Florida Talks Initiative

Florida Talks is a bold initiative that will make the Two@aTime Project available to all schools, after-school programs, and families across the state of Florida. Over the next three years, it will expand the successful Two@aTime curriculum to reach students from 3rd grade through high school—strengthening communication, connection, and emotional well-being statewide.

How Two@aTime Helps Florida Thrive

1. Improved Youth Mental Health

Reducing excessive screen use and increasing real-life connection can significantly lower rates of anxiety, depression, and emotional withdrawal in youth—helping Florida address the growing mental health crisis among its children and teens.

2. Stronger Families

Equipping parents and caregivers with tools to engage in meaningful, face-to-face conversations strengthens family bonds, reduces conflict, and improves emotional support within the home.

3. Healthier Schools & Safer Learning Environments

Face-to-face communication skills like empathy, active listening, asking great questions and appreciating others help create more respectful classrooms and positive school cultures—leading to better behavior, fewer disciplinary issues, and stronger peer relationships.

4. Community Connection & Engagement

When young people learn how to connect offline and face-to-face, they become more likely to engage in civic life, volunteerism, and community-based programs—building a stronger social fabric across neighborhoods and cities.

5. Workforce Readiness

As AI and automation rise, the future workforce will demand human skills—like communication, collaboration, and relationship-building. Teaching these skills now ensures Florida's youth are prepared for success in tomorrow's economy.

6. Cost Savings on Crisis Intervention

By focusing on prevention through emotional wellness and healthy relationships, the state can reduce future costs tied to mental health services, social work, academic remediation, and juvenile justice.

7. Delivers Access to All Communities

By offering free, research-based programs to schools, youth organizations, and families across Florida, Two@aTime ensures that every student—no matter where they live or learn—has the opportunity to build strong communication and connection skills.
