A Call to Action for All Stakeholders – Empowering a Generation
The future well-being of our youth depends on restoring balance between screen time and the irreplaceable value of face-to-face connection. The U.S. Surgeon General reports that, over the past two decades, youth are spending 70% less time with friends—a dramatic decline in real-world interaction that has far-reaching effects. Research is rapidly accumulating, linking increased screen time to a growing list of challenges for youth and families.
Tech leaders shape the platforms and tools that influence how young people communicate. Healthcare professionals see the mental, emotional, and physical toll of disconnection in their daily work. Educators have the opportunity to help students stay connected, find belonging, and rediscover the value of personal conversations—skills that prepare them to succeed in every area of life. And parents and caregivers set the tone at home, modeling balanced technology use and prioritizing relationships that matter.
By working together, we can ensure today’s youth grow up with the confidence and relational skills they need to thrive—in school, at home, and in their communities. Technology can and should be a tool for connection, but it must never replace the depth, trust, and sense of belonging that only face-to-face relationships can provide.
Join the Two@aTime Project in making a lasting impact on youth and families—help us build a future where every young person is equipped to thrive, connect, and succeed.
